Context:
"This home at 5153 Shafter Avenue was purchased by William H. Kerrigan and his wife Katherine after the [1906] earthquake and fire displaced them from their San Francisco home. Pictured from left are Bert, Walter, Hazel, Ethel, and Frank in mother Katherine Kerrigan's arms." [Spencer Kerrigan note] "That would be about right because my dad was born on June 5th, 1907. I remember an old magnolia tree in front on Shafter avenue. We used to collect the remains of the blossoms which we called "shavers" because they looked like shaving brushes. I'm going out on a limb, but I'm guessing they didn't have a gardener back then. I don't remember that fence being there either. Must have taken it down." [Bob Kerrigan note]"About 15 years after this photo was taken the building was moved several feet north to accommodate the four unit apartment that Walter Kerrigan constructed next door at 400 Avon Street. Both buildings are still standing." [Spence Kerrigan note]
